Questions worth asking
Ask these of everyone who quotes, including us.
- Can you show me photographs of what is actually wrong with my roof?
- Is the quote written, itemised, and does it include scaffolding and waste removal?
- What happens if you find rotten timber once the covering is off?
- What underlay are you using and how is ventilation being handled?
- Are you insured, and can I see evidence of it?
- Who will actually be on the roof — your own team or subcontractors?
Warning signs
None of these are proof of a problem on their own, but together they should slow you down.
- Cold callers who 'noticed a slipped tile while passing'.
- Pressure to decide today, or a discount that expires this afternoon.
- Large cash deposits requested up front.
- No written quote, no address, no landline, no reviewable history.
- A price dramatically below everyone else, with the exclusions hidden in the small print.
Compare like with like
The cheapest quote is often the one that excludes the most. Put the quotes side by side and check scaffolding, disposal, timber allowance, lead, ventilation and roofline are all treated the same way before you judge the numbers.
Why we say all this
We are a small family business and our work comes from neighbours recommending us. That only happens if the job is right and the price was what we said it would be. You will deal with Mikey from the first phone call to the final look over the finished roof.
