New roofs · Kildare
Full re-roofs and new roofs on Kildare homes and extensions. Stripped to the rafters, rebuilt with new membrane, battens, tile or slate and proper leadwork.
The re-roofs we take on in Kildare fall into two groups. The first is older housing in and around the town centres of Naas, Newbridge and Maynooth, where the original covering has simply come to the end of its life. The second is 1990s and 2000s estate housing where the tile itself is still sound but the felt underneath has perished and the roof has never been ventilated properly.
That second group catches people out. From the ground the roof looks fine. In the attic there is black mould on the sarking, damp insulation and felt hanging in strips at the eaves. Putting new tiles on without dealing with membrane, ventilation and eaves detail just hides the problem for another few years.
Whichever situation you are in, we strip back to sound timber, replace anything rotten, fit breathable underlay and treated battens, and lay a covering that suits the house and the exposure. Out on the flatter, more exposed parts of Kildare we pay particular attention to verge and ridge fixings — that is where wind gets its grip.
